There are differences in appearance depending on screen resolution, browser brand and version, and to a lesser extent the operating system. Readability is also affected by font family with sans-serif fonts being cleaner and easier to read on a screen than serif fonts especially at smaller sizes and lower screen resolutions.
Background color and text color have a significant impact on readability. High contrast is required between text and brackground. However, on a computer screen, colors that are too bright can be hard to read for an extended period.
